Ameriplan for working families

January 19, 2008 – 1:22 am

It wasn’t that long ago that one person in the home could work 40 hours a week while the other could stay home to take care of home and the family. Now it seems you race through life – getting kids ready for school in the morning, barely making it to work on time. You work all day. Then you rush home to make (and eat) dinner, before you have to take the kids to soccer practice or piano lessons or some other activity.
The average American adult today works more (outside the home) than his or her parents and gets less for it. One of the big reasons is that US healthcare has become a system gone awry! Insurance company membership fees continue to climb while employer contributions to them slide downward or vanish altogether.
So not only do you work to put food on the table, like your parents did, you pay anywhere from $2261 to $9950 per year to insurance company MEMBERSHIP FEES. You pay higher deductibles.
And on top of that, you get fewer services or treatment options than you once did.
• Your prescription drug fees are rising
• Dental and orthodontic services are limited
• Deductibles for dental are increasing
• Vision care is controlled

  2. This article “hits the nail on the head”. I’m a victim of this same scenario. It’s really ashamed that the people in Washington aren’t doing more to help with this problem. Been there, done that, and making positive changes.
